How to Convert CGPA into Percentage?
Cumulative Grade Points Average (CGPA) is used in colleges and schools to measure the overall academic performance of a student. In CGPA grades are allotted to the students instead of marks or percentages. Grades like A, B, C, D, or F are allocated based on their performance. It is calculated with an average of all grade points obtained in each semester after the course completion up to a given academic term. Whereas GPA ( Grade Point Average) it is used to specify only for one term. Every country has their grading standards.
In India, according to Continuous & Comprehensive Evaluation system(CEC) of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), students academic performance need to be announced in CGPA format. In this format, CGPA is calculated by taking the average grade points achieved in all subjects by students (Only 5), excluding the additional 6th subject.

How to Calculate Cumulative Grade Points Average (CGPA)?
Let’s see how to calculate CGPA for CBSE board Examinations.
As mentioned above, CGPA is used to measure the academic performance of the student for that academic year. And it is written on the report card lets see how it can be done.
Add your grade points in the best five subjects, then divide it by 5.
Let us assume your grade points for the five main subjects are:
Subject 1: 7
Subject 2: 8
Subject 3: 6
Subject 4: 8 and
Subject 5: 9

Step 1: Add the grade points: 7+8+6+8+9 = 38
Step 2: Divide total grade points by total number of subjects i.e
Total grade points = 38; total number of subjects here is 5 that results ; 38/5 = 7.6
Hence your CGPA is 7.6.
To get the percentage based on CGPA or to evaluate your performance in terms of percentage then multiply your CGPA by 9.5.
Form the above example,
CGPA obtained is 7.6
Now multiply 7.6 (CGPA) with 9.5
that results 7.6 x 9.5 = 72.20%
So the percentage obtained by a student is 72.20%
As per the grading system in CBSE standards, minimum qualifying grade for passing the board exam is grade D. Students who scored E1 or E2 grades need to take re-examination in a month after the announcement of the results.
Find the percentage-based grading system
