An Experience About A Positive Perspective A path to Pinnacle- Winspire Magazine

A Positive Perspective: A Path to the Pinnacle!

“If winter comes, can spring be far behind?” asks Shelley in the concluding line of his famous poem ‘Ode to the west wind’. The poet signs off with a positive note of eternal and everlasting hope to the ailing humanity afflicted by the ills of negativity.

The story about the glass tumbler with water elaborates the essential difference between positivity and negativity. An observation that it is half-filled with water is the hallmark of positivity, and any remark that it is half empty is an explicit demonstration of negative tendency.

One of my friends had a state-of-the-art smartphone. It was his proud possession. One day it slipped from his hand, fell and developed some snag. The brand-new phone’s micro sim lost its network connectivity. Surprisingly, all other Wi-Fi enabled applications like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp etc, were functioning.

I told him that his phone was useless as he could no longer make or receive calls. Unfazed by the problem my friend said, ‘ Though I cannot use it as a phone, I can still use it as a tablet.’ His positive attitude floored me. He was not one who would cry over spilt milk, but one who would be happy that the cat could drink it.

Takewayas from story.

If problems are viewed as challenges, then no power on earth can prevent your progress. Remember the truth that no lock is manufactured without a key. Some even come with duplicate or triplicate keys. Likewise, every problem has one or more solutions. The right attitude and positive perspective are the only requisites.

A positive approach can even turn a handicap into an unexpected advantage.

I am reminded of the story of a person who won a judo competition even though he had lost his left hand in an accident. This was possible as the opponent who had to grapple him by holding his left hand could not do so as there was no left hand. Though this may be a theoretical story, it emphasises the importance of positivity. If you want to reach the pinnacle of success, shun negativity and practise positivity. Success may not be visible to those who wear the blinkers of negativity. Remove the blinkers and keep trying. You will find success waiting for you to grab. Swami Vivekananda aptly sums up positivity in a nutshell:

“Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is achieved.”
